Police have detained a smuggler with five kilograms of heroin on the border between Iran and Islam Qala port in western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.

Police spokesman Abdul Ahad Walizada told Pajhwok Afghan News the smuggler had placed the drugs in an oil tanker. He was detained by counter-narcotics police on the outskirts of the port.
