Taliban, Uzbek officials discuss security for key projects
A Taliban delegation has discussed security for major projects with senior Uzbek government officials, a spokesman for the insurgent movement said on Sunday.

Led by Sher Muhammad Abbas Stanikzai, head of Taliban’s political office in Qatar, the team visited Uzbekistan from August 6 to 10 in response to a formal invitation from Tashkent.
A statement from the Taliban spokesman said the visiting delegation met Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz Kamilov and the Uzbek president’s special representative for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev.
The two sides discussed current and future projects such as security for a proposed railroad and power transmission lines. Views were exchanged on withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan.
