Afghanistan defeats Ireland in first match of T20I bilateral series
The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Ireland by 16 runs in the first game of a three-match Twenty20 International bilateral series.
Played at Bready village in Tyrone County of Ireland, the cricket team of Ireland won the toss and elected to field first.
The Afghanistan national cricket started its batting inning and managed to score 160 runs from 18 overs and by losign 7 wickets.
The overs in today’s match was redced from 20 to 18 due to the bad weather condition.
Hazrat Zazai manated to score the highest runs on the batting side for Afghanistan. He hit 6 sixes and 8 fours to score 74 runs from just 33 balls.
Other batsmen, Mohammad Shahzad scored 29 runs, Asghar Stanikzai 31 runs, Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi managed to score 7 runs each along with Usman Ghani and Rashid Khan who scored 1 run each.
However, the Ireland batsmen could not chase the given target and lost 9 wickets by scoring 144 runs from 18 overs.
Rashid Khan managed to take three wickets on the bowling side, Aftab Alam and Mujeeb Ur Rehman took two wickets each, and Fareed Ahmad and Mohammad Nabi took one wicket each.
