U.S. Senator John McCain dies aged 81

The U.S. Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain has died at the age of 81 more than a year after he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor.



McCain who was also famous as Vietnam War hero, died on Saturday surrounded by his family, according to a short statement released by his office.
He was undergoing medical treatment after diagnosed with the aggressive brain tumor in July of 2017.
Mr. McCain left Washington in December of last year and on Friday decided to stop the treatment, his family announced.
“My deepest sympathies and respect go out to the family of Senator John McCain. Our hearts and prayers are with you!,” the U.S. President Donald Trump said in a Twitter.
The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani also offered condolences on the demise of Mr. McCain in a Twitter post said “We offer our condolences to the family and friends of Senator John McCain who was a great friend of AFG. Senator McCain served his country honorably in uniform and his service in the Senate is truly exemplary. We will remember his dedication and support towards rebuilding AFG.”
