The collision occurred on the northern Samangan-Baghlan highway in Rabatak locality of Aibak, the provincial capital, said provincial police spokesman Munir Rahimi.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News that the victims were travelling in a corolla car from Samangan to Baghlan province when their car collided head-on with a military ambulance coming in the opposite direction.
Rahimi said two people were killed and four others, including two children, wounded in the mishap which he blamed on reckless driving.
Dr. Abdul QaiumTalash, an official at the Samangan civil hospital, confirmed receiving two bodies and four injured people from the scene.
