4 Al-Qaeda network members killed in U.S. drone strikes in Kunar
At least four members of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network were killed during the airstrikes conducted by the U.S. forces in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan.
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan Military in the East said the Al-Qaeda network members were killed in the vicinity of Watapur district.
According to a statement released by 201st Silab Corps, the coalition forces based in Afghanistan carried out airstrikes using unmanned aerial vehicles, leaving at least 4 Al-Qaeda network members dead.
The statement further added that the airstrikes were carried out on Friday in Khaki Bandi area of the district.
The 201st Silab Corps also added in its statement that the Al-Qaeda network members killed during the airstrikes have been identified as Habib Ur Rehman also famous as Malik, Syeda Jan, Nematullah, and Mullah Jan.
The security situation in eastern Kunar province has started to deteriorate sharply during the recent months amid growing insurgency activities by the Taliban and ISIS militants.
The US forces based in Afghanistan have carried out a series of airstrikes targeting the hideouts of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group in eastern Kunar province of Afghanistan last week, leaving at least five militants dead.
