Azhad appointed new Herat education director
Rohullah Azhad has been appointed as new education director for western Herat province amid an ongoing conflict between the provincial council’s head and the former education director.

Former education director Abdul Raziq Ahmadi and PC head Kamran Alizai have been accusing each other for the last few months of fomenting tribal differences.
Jilani Farhad, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News Rohullah Azhad was appointed as new education director through a results-based capacity building program and a competitive test by the Presidential Palace.
He added the newly appointed education director held two master’s degrees one in international relations (IR).
Simultaneously with the introduction ceremony for the new education director, his predecessor Ahmadi told a press conference in Herat City that conspirators in the center by coordinating factors inside Herat wanted to use education as a political tool.
He said Kamran Alizai was a powerful man who had weapons and might be involved in killings.
He warned that educated people would not allow anyone to use the institution as a political tool in the electoral process.
But Alizai rejected his accusations and said Ahmadi had been ousted several months ago by the order of the presidency.
He added that according to the presidential order, Ahmadi has been introduced as a consultant in the Ministry of Education. He accused Ahmadi of fomenting ethnic disputes.
Disagreements between the Provincial Council and the education director have been ongoing for a long time.
Earlier, a number of supporters and opponents of the Education Department staged protest rallies.
