Dr. Abdullah Meets with US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of Afghanistan met with Ms. Alice Wells, US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia, in his residence at the side of the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, CEO’s press office information reported media.
AVA- At the meeting, the two sides discussed peace talks, Afghanistan’s regional relations, security situation in the country and other important issues.
Ms. Wells once again reaffirmed Washington's commitment to cooperate with Afghanistan in peace negotiation with the armed opposition, supporting holding parliamentary elections at the set time.
The Chief Executive of the National Unity Government spoke of the government's full preparation for peace talks and called for regional countries’ cooperation and assistance in this regard.
Also, Dr. Abdullah announced progress in holding upcoming elections and expressed hope that parliamentary and presidential elections ahead will be transparent.
