Explosion targets vehicle of parliamentary candidate in Khost province
An explosion took place close to the vehicle of a parliamentary candidate in southeastern Khost province of Afghanistan, the local officials said.
AVA- The incident took place earlier today in the vicinity of the provincial capital of Khost province.
Provincial governor’s spokesman Taliban Mangal confirmed the incident and said a civilian was wounded in the explosion.
Mangal further added that the explosion took place earlier today in the vicinity of Puli Prozha area of Khost city, leaving a civilian wounded.
According to Mangal, no one else, including the parliamentary candidate Abdul Wali Ikhlas and his security guards, was hurt in the explosion.
No individual or group including Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
Khost has been among the relatively calm provinces since the fall of the Taliban regime but the security situation of the province has deteriorated comparatively during the recent years.
The Taliban militants and other groups often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities in Khost city and other remote districts of the province.
