Parliamentary candidate among eight killed in Helmand blast
An explosion went off inside the campaign office of a parliamentary candidate in southern Helmand province on Tuesday, killing at least eight people, officials said.

The office, in the provincial capital Lashkargah, belonged to Saleh Mohammad Achekzai , the provincial governor's office said in a statement.
Omar Zwak, a spokesman for provincial governor, said that the blast was triggered by a suicide bomb.
At least eight people were killed while 11 more wounded in the attack, the provincial governor's office said in a statement. The deaths included also the candidate who succumbed to injuries in hospital.
Afghanistan's parliamentary election is scheduled to be held on October 20.
The explosion comes a day after the Taliban condemned the polls and vowed to disrupt it.
