Contract worth $25m signed for Kunduz irrigation, electricity project
A contract worth 25 million US Dollars was signed for the implementation of irrigation and electricity production project in northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the contract was signed between the Ministry of Energy and Water and Lanco Infratech Limited.
The statement further added that a ceremony was organized in Dilgosha Palace of the Presidential Palace and the contract was signed by acting minister of energy and water Mohammad Gul Khulmi and the representative of Lanco Infratech Limited Ahmad Farzad.
According to Office of the President, the irrigation and the Second Khanabad electricity production project would be implemented in Khanabad district of northern Kunduz province.
The main purpose of the project is to expand the irrigation system and electricity production, ARG Palace said, adding that the project would help with the production of 10.4 megawatts of electricity and would irrigate 47,000 hectares of land that would eventually benefit 18,000 families in the district.
