Hekmat Khalil Karzai has resigned as deputy foreign minister of Afghanistan, the ministry's spokesman said.

Hekmat,a cousin of former President Hamid Karzai, cited "serious differences of views" in the National Unity Government for his resignation as deputy foreign minister for political affairs, a post he held for four years.
