The 95%Tax Penalty Exemption of the Taxpayers Extended until the end of FY-1397

Ministry of Finance during a press conference today informed of 95% extension of the tax penalty exemption until the end of FY-1397.


Mr. Abdullah Raqibi, Deputy Minister of Customs and Revenue at Ministry of Finance, Mr. Abdul Habib Zadran, Director General of Revenue, Mr. Khan Jan Alokozay, deputy chairman of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Rahimullah Samandar, Chief Operating Officer of Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines participated in the event held in GMIC.   
 "Implementation of 95% tax penalty exemption procedures approved in FY-1397 National Budget Principle will be a great step toward private sector growth and development. Government has extended the exemption until the end of FY-1397 that is why the private sector and the taxpayers welcomed the initiative took by Ministry of Finance," said Mr. Abdullah Raqibi, Deputy Minister of Customs and Revenue.
 "The Government has provided a 95% tax penalty exemption procedure for taxpayers' ease and executed it for 9 months which more than 8000 companies have settled their tax debts including large, medium and small taxpayers," said Abdul Habib Zadran, Director General of Revenue.
 "The Tax Penalty Exemption will lead to private sector growth, license revival and investment support," said Mr. Khan Jan Alokozay, Deputy Chairman of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce & Industries while appreciating the tax penalty exemption initiative. He asked all taxpayers to make use of the privilege granted by Ministry of Finance and pay their tax debt as soon as possible.
"Almost 60% of manufacturing companies made use of the exemption process and paid their tax debt," said Mr. Samandar, Chief Operating Office of Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines. He promised to encourage other taxpayers to pay their tax debt.  
It is worth mentioning that, according to Tax Penalty Principles for FY-1397, the taxpayers who did not clear their tax debts during 1381 to 1396, are required to pay 5% of the penalty including the tax itself, while the 95% remaining of penalty will be exempted. At the beginning was valid for 9 months and government has extended this program until the end of this year that is why the private sector and taxpayers welcome the program, meanwhile the government aimed to encourage the taxpayers and the private sectors.
