Fourth National Festival of Saffron Flower Held in Herat

Monesa Hasanzada provincial deputy of Herat province who participated in this festival appreciated the efforts of farmers in cultivation of saffron.
She said that our peasants could produce the best saffron among 300 types of saffron in the world which has the best quality and stand at first level in the world markets.
Hasanzada also noted that Afghanistan could get the third rank among 30 countries who produce saffron and have the best quality saffron in the world.
Bashir Ahmad head of Herat agriculture department said, Herat province has about 6000 hectares of saffron cultivation land, producing more than 12 tons of saffron and creating more than 10,000 households with more than 90 percent of production of this product as a pioneer in the industry of Afghanistan.
It is said that Herat saffron after producing and packing send to the markets with a sustainable prince.
