Khalilzad briefs Ghani about his recent trips regarding Afghan peace
The U.S. Special Adviser for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalizad briefed President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani about his recent trips regarding the Afghan reconciliation efforts.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said Ambassador Khalilzad met President Ghani in Gulkhana Palace before noon time on Monday and briefed him about his recent trips to certain countries regarding Afghan peace.
The statement further added that Ambassador Khalilzad also briefed the President regarding his meeting with the Taliban delegation in Qatar, calling it a positive trip.
He also added that the United States would continue to its efforts to launch an Afghan-led peace process, emphasizing that the condition is suitable for peace talks more than any other time.
Ambassador Khalilzad further added that the U.S. government respects the Afghan nation, government, and laws and the U.S. government is committed to all-out support regarding the upcoming presidential elections which would be conducted based on the decision and will of the Afghan people.
In his turn, President Ghani thanked Ambassador Khalilzad for his efforts regarding the Afghan peace process and added that the government is prepared for peace talks, considering the the main demands of the Afghan people and priorities of the government for reconciliation.
President Ghani also added that the representatives of different sects of the nation demand immediate launch of peace talks as he pointed towards his recent consultative meetings.
