$240 million MoU signed for the establishment of National Electricity Network
A 250 million US Dollars Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Finance of Afghanistan and the Asian Development for the establishment of National Electricity Network.

The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said the MoU was signed in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
The statement further added that the establishment of the National Electricity Network would pave the way for the balanced economic development across all provinces of the country.
The MoU was signed by the acting finance minister Mohammad Humayoun Qayoui and the country director of the Asian Development Bank Samuel Tumiwa during a ceremony in Dilgusha Palace which was also attended by other senior officials including second vice president Mohammad Sarwar Danish.
Five provinces, including Daikundi, Uruzgan, Ghor, Nuristan, and Nimroz provinces would be connected in the National Electricity Network in the first step, ARG Palace said, adding that the named provinces would not only gain access to proper and cheap electricity but would also provide electricity to their neighboring provinces.
A total of $240 million budget has been committed for the project in the initial stage which would increase with the expansion of the network, ARG Palace said in its statement, adding that studies, design, and procurement works of the project would also be executed with the implementation of the MoU.
