خبرگزاری Afghn Voice Agency(AVA) , 25 Nov 2018 - 23:44

Higher Education Minister Najibullah Khwaja Umari on Sunday said some parliamentarians had a hand in the clash on the Kabul University campus, in which one person was killed and several others were arrested.

AVA- Umari, who appeared before the Meshrano Jirga or Senate, said the martyred person was a student of Khoshal Khan High School, not a student of the Kabul University.
“The information shared with the media is totally wrong and far from reality. The differences developed between students over the nature of Azan at the hostel’s mosque,” he said.
He said a Shia student wanted to offer the Azan, but he was barred by a Sunni student.
He added although the ministry’s had arranged separate places for Shia and Sunnia Azan, but still the two sides had held meetings and debated over the issue, which finally led to a violent clash few days back.
Umari said individuals who had been called in from outside to support their respective sides clashed with police in Dehburi Chowk near the university and an 11-year-old boy named Sediquallah was killed as a result of aerial firing.
He added 33 persons, including four university students and the rest from outside, had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Referring to the alleged involvement of lawmakers in the clash, the minister said names of these parliamentarians and other supporters had been provided to the security organs with details and investigation in this regard was underway.
