Officials said the weapons had been confiscated over the past three months during operations and would be taken to the Ministry of Defense’s weapon repair center in Kabul.
Nangarhar governor’s spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said the NDS operatives had confiscated the weapons from Daesh and Taliban militants and formally handed the arms over to DIAG officials on Wednesday.
He said the weapons included 72 Kalashnikovs and other arms which were confiscated during the past three months.
DIAG chief for the east, Ghulam Hussain Sahibzada, said the weapons delivered to DIAG officials would be taken to the MoD repair center and then distributed to local police and uprising forces.
He said so far 720 weapons confiscated in Laghman, Kunar and Nangarhar provinces this year had been submitted to DIAG program.
