Herat intelligence officer killed in Taliban ambush
 An officer of The intelligence dept. for western Herat province has been killed in a Taliban ambush in the Shindand district after 35 Taliban militants were killed in infighting there, an official said on Friday.
AVA- Taliban gunmen loyal to rival commanders clashed in Joy Qazi, Deh Mirza Qasim, Deh Aman and Abdal Abad areas of the Shindand district on Thursday afternoon, leaving 35 fighters dead on both sides, the governor’s spokesman said.
Jilani Farhad told media outlets the clashes broke out between Mullah Samad, who is loyal to Taliban supreme leader Mullah Haibatullah and Mullah Nangyali loyal to Mullah Rassoul splinter group.
Mullah Samad lost 18 fighters and Mullah Nangyali 10 to the fierce clashes with another 17 rebels sustaining wounds.
An officer of the provincial intelligence dept, Maj Matin, was killed after Taliban gunmen ambushed a convoy of security forces heading to the scene.
The Taliban also confirmed the infighting in Shindand district.
