Taliban stressed on foreign forces pull out in UAE talks: Khalilzad
US Special Representative for Afghanistan’s Reconciliation process Zalmay Khalilzad has said the Taliban delegation were more focused on the withdrawal of foreign forces during talks in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During an interview with Aryana Television, The US peace envoy criticised the Taliban for not holding meeting with Afghan government delegation.
He said if the Taliban were sincere in peace talks they should have met the Afghan government delegation.
Khalilzad is in Afghanistan to brief the Afghan government leadership on his meetings with different stake holders related to peace in Afghanistan.
 He warned declining to meet the Afghan delegation may harm the Taliban.
He said the future political structure and other political issues were the concern of the people of Afghanistan the US was nothing do in this regard.
“There was no talk regarding future political spectrum of Afghanistan,” he said.
He said during the meetings the Taliban made it clear they would not go to the past and stressed over ending the 40-year conflict in Afghanistan.
When asked about ceasefire, he said it was the Saudi and UAE suggestion on which the Taliban delegation said they had no authority to talk on this subject.
“If the Taliban prefer to fight instead of peace, the US would stand with Afghan government,” he said.
The US envoy did not reject the possibility of peace agreement before presidential elections.
It is worth mentioning that National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib made it clear that foreigner had no right to decide about the future of Afghanistan.
