Pakistan FO: Way forward for Afghanistan peace is through dialogue
Pakistani Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal on Wednesday said Pakistan always believed in dialogues for bringing back peace in Afghanistan, private channel reported.
AVA- In his statement issued on Wednesday, Dr Faisal said the peace in Afghanistan can only be achieved through dialogues between the stakeholders.
“Pakistan has always remained supporter for the peace process in Afghanistan,” he continued. Pakistan believes in peaceful neighborhood and is desirous of peace and friendship with all its neighboring countries. The international community also backs the Pakistan’s stance of reconciliation on the Afghan issue, the spokesman added.
The country’s military command has also pledged support for the negotiation process in Afghanistan. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday (December 27) had said his country was committed to efforts for peace in Afghanistan as it is important for peace in Pakistan.
He was talking to Commander Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan General Austin Scott Miller, who called on him in Rawalpindi. During the meeting matters of mutual interest with particular reference to regional security and ongoing Afghan reconciliation process were discussed, said a statement issued by the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR). Both the military leaders expressed unanimity of views on importance of political resolution of Afghan situation and underlined that only an Afghan owned and Afghan led inclusive process can lead to peace in Afghanistan. They also reaffirmed the need for continuing harmonised efforts against terrorists and for effective border management.
