Top Afghan and U.S. Military officials visit Faryab province
The acting minister of defense Asadullah Khalid and commander of the NATO-led Resolute Support and U.S. forces in Afghanistan Gen. Scott visited northern Faryab province on Monday to review the situation of the province.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan Military in the North said the defense officials reviewed the security situation of the province and ongoing offensive against the terrorist groups.
Khalid said the National Defense and Security Forces had considerable and tangible achievements in suppressing the terrorists in this province by inflicting heavy casualties on the militants and their leaders.
He said Faryab, security and development of the province remains a top priority of the government and the security forces.
According to Khalid, the militants have suffered heavy casualties during the operations and offensive would continue to suppress the militants in this province.
Khalid also added that another major operation would kick off in this province and promised to resolve the security issues in Maimana-Andkhoi highway, emphasizing that the security institutions have proper strategies and sufficient force to eliminate the threats in the highway.
He also warned Taliban that the security forces would suppress them if they resisted to positively respond to peace process which is the nation and government’s call.
