Both Iran, Iraq advance to Asian Cup last 16 following 0-0 draw in Group D
Iran and Iraq played out a goalless draw in Group D of the Asian Cup on Wednesday.
AVA- In a hotly contested match with chances for both sides, Iran were lucky in the 39th minute as Saman Ghoddos received only a yellow card for his step on Safa Abdullah.
The closest anyone came to scoring was Alaa Abbas's 77th-minute header, which was palmed away by Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand.
Both teams have already qualified for the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, Vietnam eliminated Yemen from the tournament, after a 2-nil victory, maintaining their chance to reach the round of 16.
Vietnam grabbed the lead thanks to a superb free-kick by Nguyen Quang Hai in the 38th minute. Just minutes after the hour-mark, Que Ngoc Hai put the game to bed from the spot.
With the win the Vietnamese stand in the 3rd place, relying on other results to go their way.
