17 sentenced to prison for drug trafficking
 Afghanistan’s drug courts have sentenced seventeen people to prison for conspiracies to smuggle or sell drugs, said officials on Tuesday.
AVA- Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) said that 17 drug traffickers have been given short and long term prison sentences over the past week.
CJTF in a press statement said the primary and appellate court of CJTF have convicted 17 smugglers to four-16 years prison.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has seized over 50kg heroin, 137kg opium, over 398kg hashish and 11kg crystal from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, added statement.
Out of the mentioned drug traffickers, two of them were arrested in Hamid Karzai airport, who planned to smuggle to India.
Statement said that after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides the CJTF courts has convicted the accused traffickers, mentioned statement.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
