US not to leave Afghanistan soon
US troops may not be leaving Afghanistan and Syria soon, says an influential American senator, Jim Inhofe, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
AVA-  Inhofe said he had discussed with President Donald Trump his objections to a time-based pullout.
Inhofe told journalists on Capitol Hill on Tuesday that anyone claiming to have a withdrawal timeline was unaware of what they were talking about.
“It should have been conditions on the ground from the beginning for any place where we have troops,” Inhofe was quoted as saying by Radio Free Europe.
“I just don’t think anyone is going to be able to say today how many troops will be coming out or when they are going to be coming out,” the senator remarked.
President Donald Trump suggested last month that US troops could exit Afghanistan, an announcement that sparked concerns among American allies.
