MCIT Signs Contract for Establishing Telecom Tax Collection System
The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) on Thursday signed contract of a project entitled “Real Time Data Management” for the collection of telecom tax across the country.

The contract of the project was signed between Shahzad Gul Aryobee,  the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies and head of a private company in the Presidential Palace (ARG).
The president’s office in a statement said that the system is responsible for reporting on telecom revenue. The system is aimed at collecting genuine information through connecting with the telecommunication network system to ensure and gain public confidence in the transparency of the collection process of 10 percent telecom tax and other telecommunication revenues.
The Afghan government imposed a 10 percent tax levy against telecom companies which directly affected mobile phone subscribers in October 2015.
According to the ARG statement, the government has collected more than 14.5 billion AFN as revenues for telecommunication services, following the signing of a decree on the collection of 10 percent telecom tax.
