Afghanistan announce under-19 squad for quadrangular series
Afghanistan Cricket Board on Monday announced that the national side's under-19 squad for quadrangular one-day series due to begin in India tomorrow (Tuesday.)
The other four teams in the tournament are South Africa U-19s and India U-19 A and B teams. It will be played in Thiruvananthapuram, a city in India’s southern state of Kerala. Afghanistan’s first match in the tournament is scheduled to be against India U-19 B team.
Afghanistan’s chief selector, Dawlat Khan Ahmadzai, said that the players were picked for the tournament following training camp. He said that the main aim was to select a team for future major tournaments including Asia Cup and World Cup.
Afghanistan squad:
Farhan Zakhil (C), Abdul Rahman Rahmani, Mohammad Hassan Khan, Arif Khan Dawlatzai, Naweed Ahmad, Ijaz Mahran, Riaz Hassan, Abid Mohammadi, Shafiqullah Ghafari, Mohammad Ishaq Zazai, Abdullah Tarakheil, Abidullah Taniwal, Ihsanullah Mandozai, Islam Khan Zazai, Jamshid Mir Alikhil, Ahmad Zahir Pathan and Fazal Haq.
Reserve players include Rizwan Mangal, Sabir Hanif and Noor Ahmad.
