Kunduz Operation in Afghanistan: 27 Taliban militants killed
Over 27 Taliban militants were killed on Thursday in Afghan Special Forces operation in northern Kunduz province and around 16 militants were injured in the clashes.
AVA- According to the officials, the operation was launched in Imam Sahib district in the province after Taliban allegedly captured a security post in the district on Monday, local media reported.
The forces re-taken the control of the check post, the officials added.
This comes after Taliban claimed that a number of forces members were killed in the attack on the check post.
Earlier on Thursday, three people were killed and 19 others were injured in back-to-back mortar attack that took place around 12 pm at the ceremony in Musala-e-Mazar compound in Kabul. Hundreds of people were gathered to mark the 24th death anniversary of Abdul Ali Mazari, leader of the Hezb-e Wahdat party.
The first explosion heard when the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government Abdullah Abdullah was giving speech.
Hours after the attack, the major political figures called on government to respond on the incident and also questioned how the attackers managed to infiltrated the area.
Spokesperson for the interior ministry Nusrat Rahimi confirmed that four mortars were fired from a house on a ceremony.
The attack in the Afghan capital comes a day after sixteen people were killed and nine wounded when unidentified gunmen attacked a private construction company in Jalalabad in Nangarhar province.
