Sayyaf to Candidates: Election Campaign Isn’t a ‘Boxing, Karate’ Stage
Former Jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rassoul Sayyaf on Saturday said that presidential candidates should not let the enemy penetrate among them, insisting that the candidates should compete in the elections through “legitimate” channels.

Speaking at a ceremony held in the Loya Jirga tent in Kabul to mark the fifth death anniversary of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim, Sayyaf said that the election campaign is not a “boxing and Karate” stage where the candidates would seek victory.
He stressed that the country is going through a difficult and sensitive period and that the presidential candidates should campaign through legitimate ways.
His remarks as the presidential election is scheduled to be held on July 20, this year.
There are 18 candidates running for the elections including the current President Ashraf Ghani, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, former national security advisor Mohammad Haneef Atmar and former head of NDS Rahmatullah Nabil.
