خبرگزاری Herat Afghan Voice Agency(AVA) , 21 Mar 2019 - 17:10

The European Union (EU) allocated 27 million euros for humanitarian assistance to Afghans affected by conflicts and floods, the European Commission reported Wednesday.

AVA- The funds will go towards the purchase of food, water supply, provision of temporary housing, medical services and sanitation, as well as school education, according to the EU executive body.
Of the total amount, two million euros will be allocated to families affected by recent floods, which caused 63 deaths, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Over 122,600 people are in need of humanitarian assistance after the heavy rains and floods that have affected the south of Afghanistan since last weekend, leaving 143 people injured, according to reports from the State Ministry for Disaster Management.
After more than 17 years of war, the crisis situation does not seem to change in that Asian nation where the number of fatalities is increasing every day. Besides to battling anti-government and extremist groups, Afghans are practically at war since the US and its allies launched a so-called crusade against terrorism in 2001.
