Seven Afghan local police killed in checkpoint attacks in Zabul

Ata Jan Haq Bayan, chairman of provincial council, said that the militants stormed local police checkpoints in Seyori area of Shinkay district at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday triggering a clash that lasted until 4:00 a.m.
He said that the insurgents seized three checkpoints and killed seven police. Eight more police were wounded in the attacks, he said.
Additional forces arrived in the area hours later to take the wounded to provincial capital Qalat.
Taliban claimed that Seyuri district center along with all buildings fell to its fighters, but the area is not an administrative unit.
