Women’s Muay Thai Championship In Kabul Wrapped Up

At least 24 women fighters from Kabul attended an annual Muay Thai championship in which eight fighters were selected for the national team.



Fighters from different age and weight categories attended the competition – which was kicked off on April 21 and continued until Saturday, April 27. 
“The National Muay Federation has the pride of getting gender equality award from the United Nations and International Muay Thai Federation,” said Amir Husain Husaaini, head of Muay Thai Federation.
In this competition, Shabnam Husainzada from Kabul got the first position was given gold medal. 
“In this competition, I fought in the 54kg category and succeeded to get the first position by beating my rivals,” Husainzada said.
Freshta Sherzad, a Muay Thai fighter from Kabul, got the first position in the 51kg weight category.
“The competition was very good. It was good for capacity building of the Muay Thai fighters,” Shirzad said.
