Qatar changes ambassador to Afghanistan aimed peace efforts
Qatar has reportedly appointed Saeed Mubarak al Khayarin al Hajri as its new ambassador to Afghanistan by issuing a decree.
AVA- Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, in a decree, appointed Saeed Mubarak al Khayarin al Hajri as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Qatar Tribune reported recently.
According to reports, Qatar has also appointed Mohammed Abdullah Obaid al Dehaimi as its ambassador to China, and Fahad Ibrahim al Hamad al Mana as ambassador to Morocco.
The appointment of new ambassador has made at a time when Qatari government hosted several rounds of talks between US and Taliban members.
Both sides also claimed progress during talks, but nothing has so far changed in ground reality as war still continues in its big way.
Moreover, second round of intra-Afghan talks after successful Moscow talks, was expected to held in Qatar from 19 to 20 April, but called off at the last minute after disagreement of Qatari government.
Moreover, Taliban also reacted over 250-member Afghan delegation to sit in one table with Taliban negotiation members, saying it is a formal meeting in a gulf country, not a wedding party in one of Kabul hotels.
Eventually, the meeting, where many Afghans pinned high hope over its outcome to find ways to end the long-decade war, has been revoked with all these hopes dashed to the ground.
Based on unconfirmed reports, next round of peace talks between US and Taliban to begin soon, likely after conclusion of Zalmay Khalilzad’s peace tour where he just ended Pakistan visit, meeting Pakistani officials, discussing Afghan peace process.
