An imam was shot dead after he left the mosque in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar on Wednesday, officials said.

Safiullah, was killed by a silencer gun while he was returning home after offering morning prayer in Kala Tak area of Kuz Kunar district.
Safiullah was also a teacher at Tawakal Baba high school.
No group or individual immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Attacks on religious scholars have increased recently in Afghanistan.
