First day of Doha Meeting; Taliban Wants to be part of Power

During the first day of intra-Afghan dialogue in Doha, Taliban has reportedly said that they want to be part of the power as the two sides expressed their views. 
Addressing the meeting, Germany’s special envoy Markus Potzel said that “all Afghan participants are agreeing to engage in a constructive dialogue because of all the suffering which the Afghan people have endured and are still enduring. 
“Afghanistan wants and deserves peace, a peace that protects the rights of all Afghan citizens, especially women and minorities, and that leaves the region and the world more secure,” Potzel added, according to reports. 
“After so many years, the circle of violence must come to an end. History will remember those who were able to set their differences aside for the sake of the country.”
Some delegates from Kabul, however, described the view of Taliban this way that they do not want monopoly of power, and that they want to be part of it. 
Ghairat Baheer, a delegate of intra-Afghan dialogue in Doha, said that today’s meeting was productive and that the delegates had reasonable suggestions.
Suhail Shaheen, a Taliban spokesman, said after the intra-Afghan meeting that “such events are bringing Afghans together and are effective for peace and solving Afghanistan’s issue. 
US secretary of state Mike Pompeo in a tweet welcomed the meeting and said that “Intra Afghan Conference for Peace in Doha has been a long time coming.” 
“It’s great to see senior government, civil society, women, and Taliban representatives at one table together,” he added.
