During the phone call, the two leaders discussed security issues, counter-terrorism, market access to Afghan goods and Saudi Arabia's role in regional connectivity and Afghan peace process, Arg said in a statement.
The call comes as the Taliban have held seven rounds of talks with the United States, but have refused to deal directly with the Afghan government.
Saudi Arabia is expected to push Pakistan to use its leverage on the Taliban to drop their refusal to talk directly with the Afghan government.
