Afghanistan, U.S. agree on next steps, agreement to be concluded if Taliban did their part: Khalilzad
The U.S. envoy for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad has left for Doha after concluding his trip in Afghanistan and having a brief stopover in Pakistan.

Ambassador Khalilzad said in a Twitter post that his visit to Afghanistan was ‘most productive’ assuming charge as special envoy for Afghan peace.
Furthermore, Ambassador Khalilzad said “The US and Afghanistan have agreed on next steps. And a negotiating team and technical support group are being finalized.”
He also added “In Doha, if the Taliban do their part, we will do ours, and conclude the agreement we have been working on.”
However, Ambassador Khalilzad did not further information regarding the agreed next steps and the part the Taliban should take practical step for.
