Officials in Faryab Police Headquarters confirmed that the incident took place in Kohistan district of Faryab earlier today.
The officials further added that the 17-year-old girl engaged to another man, eloped with a 20-year-old man with whom she earlier contacts.
However, the Taliban arrested the couple and flogged the duo after convicting them of wrongdoing in a Kangaroo Court, the officials added.
The Taliban group has not commented in this regard so far.
Public flogging and trying individuals in Kangaroo Courts is not rare in the restive parts of the country.
Taliban militants often flog, kill or stone the victims to death after trying them in Kangaroo Courts in the areas under their control.
