Seven civilians killed in Paktika blast

Seven civilians were killed when a roadside bomb exploded in Afghanistan's eastern Paktika province on Saturday, police said.



The incident happened in Sultan area of Sarozi district in the morning, said Mohammad Aryan, a spokesman for provincial police.
He said that four of those killed in the bombing were members of same family.
According to the official, the bomb had been planted by the Taliban. The group has yet to make comment.
The incident comes on the same day nine children were killed in bomb blast while they were going to school in northern Takhar province.
A record 4,313 civilians were injured or killed between July and September, a 42 percent increase from the same period last year, the United Nations said in a report last month.
