Afghanistan is on track to miss revenue target set by the International Monetary Fund, the parliament's finance and budget commission said on Monday.

The country has collected 165 billion afghanis in revenue over the last 10 months, according to the ministry of finance. The target set by IMF for 2019 is 209 billion afghanis.
Mohammad Azim Kibrzani, secretary of Wolesi Jirga’s finance and budget commission, said that the country would not reach the target in the remaining two months.
Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani on Monday called for increasing coordination and efforts for collecting revenues in a video conference with provincial officials.
He instructed security officials to take serious action against those who resist revenue collection.
Shamroz Khan Masjidi, a spokesman for Finance Ministry, said that Afghanistan would reach IMF’s revenue target by the end of current financial year.
According to the ministry, so far this year, 66 billion afghanis have been collected from customs while 94 billion afghanis from other areas.
Naser Temori, a member of Integrity Watch Afghanistan, said that revenues will not be collected properly unless the customs system of the country is reformed.
