Afghan authorities on Saturday signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) to make Haj application process electronic.

The agreement was signed between Acting Communication and IT Minister Fahim Hashimy and Acting Haj and Religious Affairs Minister Abdul Hakim Munib.
The electronic system allows online application for Haj, passport and visa. It also provides information to pilgrims about their travel and accommodation including the building and the room allotted to them.
Hashimy said that the electronic system would make the application process easier as it would reduce the procedures.
Meanwhile, Munib said that the system would help transparency in the process, which he said was complex and time-consuming.
More than 30,000 Afghans perform haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia annually.
