The Salang Pass has closed to traffic due to heavy winds and snowfall, said the Salang Pass protection department.

The Salang Pass protection department in a statement said that the pass has been closed since 12:00p.m. (local time) on Wednesday and will remain closed until further notice due to ongoing snowstorms in the area.
The department added that its rescue teams are busy transporting and guiding vehicles on the highway and will evacuate the vehicles and pedestrians as soon as possible.
The Salang highway connects central capital Kabul with nine northern provinces.
