Pakistan says killing of Soleimani could hit Afghan peace process
Pakistan said on Monday that rising tensions in the Middle East following the killing of Iranian Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani could hit the Afghan peace process.

The crisis will have a negative impact on Afghanistan, and Pakistan’s efforts in this regard could be undone,” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said while addressing the Senate in Islamabad.
“Some elements, who have long been awaiting for this [kind of] moment, may take advantage and try to derail the Afghan peace process,” Qureshi said without naming an individual or group.
On Friday, Soleimani was killed in a US strike at Baghdad airport.
US has held several rounds of peace talks with the Taliban over the last year.
Iran is believed to have influence over the Taliban and there have been reports of Tehran providing support for the militants.
Earlier, Afghanistan’s Second Vice President Sarwar Danish expressed hope that the recent tensions between US and Iran would not affect Afghan peace process.
