Coronavirus affects Afghan exports to China

Afghanistan's exports to China have been affected as the only airline that used to carry the country's goods to the neighboring country suspended its flights due to the coronavirus outbreak.



The airline used to carry 20 tonnes of Afghan goods mostly pine nuts through air corridor to China daily, but it didn’t happen on Saturday, as the company suspended its flights to China to until February 9.
Syed Zaman Hashimy, the CEO of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said that the suspension affects the country’s economy.
More than 250 people have died in China due to the coronavirus.
Afghanistan has exported 1,800 tonnes of pine nuts to China after launching air cargo link in November last year.
Annual trade value between Afghanistan and China stands at over one billion US dollars, with Afghanistan’s exports being at $50 million.
Pine nuts and talc are Afghanistan’s major items of export to China.
