Afghanistan Confirms Coronavirus Cases Rises to 16: MoPH
The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said on Sunday that the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country had jumped to 16.
The spokesman of MoPH, Wahidullah Mayar declared that four new positive cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Herat province and one other in Daikundi province.
According to Mayar, around 206 suspected cases have been checked in the central laboratories of the Ministry which 16 of them are positive and the 190 remaining are negative.
Herat borders neighbouring Iran, which is one of the countries worst affected by the coronavirus outside of China, with more than hundreds of deaths.
Mr Mayar expressed concern about the vulnerability of Afghanistan’s border with Iran. Millions of Afghans live and work in the neighbouring country and many are facing increasing political and economic pressure to return.
