Afghan special police have discovered four tonnes of explosives in a truck in western Herat province, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

The truck carrying ammonium nitrate was seized in a raid in Kang village of Ghoryan district, the ministry said in a statement.
Militants wanted to use the material in making roadside bombs and explosives for suicide attacks, the statement said.
Dozens of attacks in Herat were prevented with the discovery, it added.
