Afghan airstrikes kill 8 militants in northern Badakhshan
Eight militants were killed and six others injured after the fighting planes bombarded a base of Taliban outfit in Wardoj district of the northern Badakhshan province on Friday, a member of provincial council, Abdullah Naji Nazari said Saturday.
No security personnel or civilians had been hurt in the raids, the official contended.
Security officials have yet to make comment. However, locals in the restive district said that the fighting planes bombarded the Taliban hideouts in Tirgaran area and its vicinity.
Taliban purported spokesman Zabihullah Majahid has confirmed the airstrikes and said a mosque was destroyed due to the raids.
