Eight people, including a Hizb-i-Islami member, were killed in an armed attack in Afghanistan's eastern Khost province last night, police said.

The attack happened around 9:30p.m. near a clinic in Alisher district, said Adil Haidar, a spokesman for provincial police.
Abdul Wali Ikhlas, a Hizb-i-Islami member and former parliamentary candidate, was killed along with seven others in the assault.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Haidar said that police were investigating the incident.
Separately, gunmen killed four members of a family after entering their house in Altamor area of Logar capital, an official said.
The deaths were women including a mother and three of her daughters, said Didar Lawang, a spokesman for provincial governor.
