The global fatalities stand at 502,048 while the total number of confirmed cases is 10,154,984 as of Monday.
On Sunday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) also reported the largest single-day record of 189,077 cases registered worldwide with several countries reporting their highest numbers.
The bulk of the new cases were reported in Brazil, the U.S. and India.
About a quarter of the deaths so far have been in the U.S. and the recent surge in new cases were reported in parts of Southern and Western states that had reopened earlier.
