Attaullah Khogyani, the Nangarhar governor's spokesman, said that the Mir Zaman, the police commander in Kuz Kunar district, was killed when a suicide bomber detonated his vehicle in the district market.

Two of the commander's guards were also killed in the incident, Khogyani added.
According to Khogyani five others were wounded in the incident.
So far no group has claimed responsibility.
